RNET No. 6172
After the rehabilitation of the Casa do Conto (of residential origin) and the Tipografia do Conto (of industrial origin), we are now moving towards the regeneration of Ilha do Monte da Lapa, a set of popular housing, traditional in the city of Porto.
The complex is being rehabilitated by the notable architect Álvaro Siza, who put all his sensitivity and erudition into it, both in the design of the interior spaces and in the articulation between the houses, the existing granite walls and the surrounding terraces open to the landscape.
Casa do Conto tells us a unique life story, which is, after all, the story of the changing city itself.
The set includes a new six-bedroom inn, over the Alto da Lapa Viewpoint, and the rest of the rehabilitated houses will contain twelve T1 apartments and four T2 apartments, for short and long term rental, all of them with direct access from the outside. . A final core, which completes the set, will contain ten rooms for student housing.
The regeneration of Monte da Lapa, for tourist and residential purposes, will transform this old and forgotten neighborhood of Porto into an inter-cultural and inter-generational living space, mixing visitors and locals.
